CIA operative to testify against Padilla

MIAMI, March 23 (UPI) -- Federal prosecutors want an undercover CIA agent to testify in disguise in the Miami trial of alleged terrorist Jose Padilla.

Government lawyers have asked a federal judge to allow the CIA operative to testify in a "light disguise" -- a wig, makeup and a beard -- about Padilla's alleged application to join al-Qaida, the Miami Herald reported.

Prosecutors also requested that the operative, who worked in Afghanistan and uses a pseudonyum, use a non-public entrance to the courtroom and not be drawn by a sketch artist, the Herald reported.

The requests were the first indication that the operative would testify, the newspaper said.

Padillo and two other men are charged with conspiring to support terrorism overseas, including "violent jihad" waged by al-Qaida.
