Woman survives 4 days stuck in snow

GIMLI, Manitoba, March 16 (UPI) -- A Canadian woman who took a wrong turn on her way home spent four nights stuck in her car, surviving by using Tupperware containers to melt snow.

Lorraine Muller of Gimli, Manitoba, got lost after visiting a relative Sunday in a hospital in Morris, about 80 miles away, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.

Cam Barnhill, a constable with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, found her four days later on a remote rural road, after receiving a report from a farmer about a suspicious car. Muller was huddled on the back seta, wrapped in her only blanket.

During her ordeal, Muller's only food was six peppermints. But she had water because she used the heat of the sun to melt snow in the Tupperware.

Barnhill said Muller was smart to stay in her car instead of trying to walk out.
