Chavez slams Bush while on Lat Am tour

LA PAZ, Bolivia, March 11 (UPI) -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has fired a volley of attacks on President Bush noting the disparity between their financial contributions to Bolivia.

The outspoken leftist leader Chavez said while Venezuela was heaping millions of dollars in aid on the poorest country in South America -- where recent flooding affected thousands in the eastern part of nation -- the United States was reducing its assistance to Bolivia, El Universal reported Sunday.

"Those who want to go directly to hell, they can follow capitalism," said Chavez during his tour of the region, which included stops in Bolivia and Argentina, where he led an anti-Bush rally in Buenos Aires.

The U.S. president is stopping in Colombia Sunday to meet with his strongest ally in Latin America, President Alvaro Uribe. Later this week, Bush is scheduled to make stops in Guatemala and Mexico.
