First daughter Jenna Bush to be an author

WASHINGTON, March 7 (UPI) -- First daughter Jenna Bush has signed a deal with HarperCollins for a book on her experiences working with UNICEF in Central America.

The book "Ana's Story: A Journey of Hope" will tell the story of a 17-year-old orphan who is also a single mother living with HIV, the publisher said in a release.

The non-fiction narrative, which will be targeted at young adults, is scheduled for publication this fall.

Bush traveled to Argentina, Paraguay and Panama as an intern for UNICEF's Educational Policy department at its regional office for Latin America and the Caribbean.

"I have been inspired by my work with adolescents in Central and South America," said Bush. "These young people have faced extreme hardships and exclusion, but are strong in spirit and have an incredible will to succeed."

Bush graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2004 with a degree in English.

"We were very moved by Jenna's passion for this project," said Susan Katz, president and publisher of HarperCollins Children's Books. "Her message in this book is about hope, involvement and inclusion, told through one teenager's story of survival and strength."
