Dad allegedly told toddler to 'stab mommy'

BRIDGEPORT, Conn., March 7 (UPI) -- A Connecticut man allegedly stabbed his wife and then gave his toddler son the knife, telling him "now you stab mommy."

Police in Bridgeport have refused to say whether the 2-year-old followed his father's direction, The Connecticut Post reported.

Fermin Rodriguez has been charged with assault, reckless endangerment, unlawful restraint and threatening and is being held in lieu of $350,000. Keyschla Rodriguez, 17, was wounded in the chest, face, arms and legs.

Police said the couple got into an argument when Rodriguez accused his wife of being unfaithful. He allegedly grabbed his wife and tried to saw off her hair, stabbed her many times and then handed the knife to his son.

Family members are taking care of the boy while his mother is in the hospital.
