PETOSKEY, Mich., March 4 (UPI) -- Police in Michigan's Emmet County Sunday morning captured a man suspected of killing his wife and leaving her severed torso hidden in a garage.

The Detroit News said Stephen Grant had been the target of an intense statewide manhunt since the torso was found by authorities at his Macomb County home on Friday.

Police believe the torso and other body parts later discovered at a park are the remnants of Grant's wife, Tara Lynn Grant.

An attorney for the fugitive had informed authorities on Saturday that his client was considering committing suicide.

The suspect was captured near Carp Lake by authorities Sunday after his truck was spotted in the area, the report said.

Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel described the case as "horrific."

"It is very horrific what he (allegedly) did to her," he told the paper. "People can only imagine from watching television or reading about it in some type of novel."
