KUWAIT CITY, March 4 (UPI) -- Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker Jassem Al-Kharafi Sunday officially acknowledged the resignation of the Kuwaiti Cabinet.

Al-Kharafi said the government's decision to resign means that Monday's scheduled vote of no confidence against Health Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah would not take place, the Kuwait News Agency reported.

He said Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah had accepted the government's resignation and an official decree would be issued.

Al-Kharafi said due to a lack of available members, the government would not attend Monday's session of the National Assembly.

The speaker told KUNA the presiding Kuwaiti emir has tabbed Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammad Nasser al-Ahmad al-Sabah to form the new government.
