VANCOUVER, British Columbia, March 2 (UPI) -- A police officer testified at the trial of a man charged with abducting and killing women from Vancouver's skid row that the defendant's brother is a suspect.
Robert Pickton is on trial on charges of killing six women, and faces additional trials involving 20 more victims. His brother, David, has not been charged.
Detective Constable Michael McDonald -- a member of the task force investigating disappearances of women from Vancouver -- said Thursday he had been involved with the investigation of David Pickton, the Toronto Globe and Mail reported.
Earlier this week, Tim Sleigh, an officer with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, testified that David Pickton appeared to dominate his brother. He described Robert as "mentally diminished."
The jury saw videotape of Robert Pickton during a police interview denying that his brother had anything to do with the missing women.
About 60 women, most of them prostitutes, have vanished in recent years from the Downtown Eastside neighborhood in Vancouver. Pickton owned a pig farm outside of Vancouver.
