ROME, March 2 (UPI) -- Italy's nine-day government crisis has ended with a successful confidence vote for Prime Minister Romano Prodi in the House.
ANSA said Prodi won the ballot with 342 votes in favor, 253 against and two abstentions. He won the Senate vote Wednesday by just two votes.

The prime minister resigned last week after losing a vote on foreign policy in the Senate. His resignation was rejected by President Giorgio Napolitano, although Napolitano asked Prodi to test his majority in parliament, ANSA said.
