VATICAN CITY, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- The Catholic Church expects five more saints in a few months, including a 19th-century priest known for his healing powers.
He was Charles of St. Andrew, a Dutch priest born Johannes Andreas Houben.
Sent to Dublin in 1857, he won huge popularity in the rough and poverty-stricken city for his ability to heal, ANSA said. As many as 300 people a day came to be blessed by him.
After his his death in 1893, his burial site at Mount Argus Church soon became a place of pilgrimage and Irish people continue to visit it today.
He will be canonized by Pope Benedict XVI June 3 along with a Pole, an Italian from Malta and a French nun.
The fifth new saint, a Brazilian priest, will be canonized May 11 during the pope's trip to Brazil.
