French court wants Chileans to stand trial

SANTIAGO, Chile, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Seventeen former Chilean officials were ordered by a judge to stand trial in connection with the disappearance of French citizens during the military regime.

However, one of the officials ordered to stand trial reportedly died last month, leaving only 16 to be tried in a French court in absentia, El Mercurio reported Thursday.
