LONDON, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Jurors in the London trial of accused terrorists watched footage Tuesday of one of the men allegedly fleeing the city wearing a burka.
Prosecutors say Yassin Omar was photographed by security cameras at a bus station in Golders Green in north London and again when he arrived in Birmingham, The Sun reported. The footage was taken the day after a bungled attempt to set off bombs in the London transport system.
Omar and six other men are charged with planning and carrying out the bombings, which occurred two weeks after the deadly suicide bombings of July 7, 2005.
The cameras captured someone wearing a black burka, the head-to-foot covering worn by some devout Muslim women, with a handbag over one arm. Omar was arrested in Birmingham on July 27.
