Canada body-parts murder victim identified
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., Feb. 17 (UPI) -- A Florida Air Force captain who allegedly was the intended victim of astronaut Lisa Marie Nowak has dropped her request for a restraining order.
Lawyers for Air Force Capt. Colleen Shipman said in court documents that Shipman "no longer thinks an injunction for protection against repeat violence is necessary" because other protective orders are in place, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
An Orlando judge and the Navy have ordered Nowak to stay away from Shipman, the newspaper said.
Attorney Keith Szachacz said Shipman "absolutely" intends to pursue the criminal case against Nowak, the Sentinel said.
Nowak was charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted kidnapping and battery after she allegedly confronted Shipman Feb. 5 in an Orlando International Airport parking lot.
