QALAT, Afghanistan, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- An al-Qaida video posted on the Internet shows fighters planning and carrying out an alleged raid on a NATO checkpoint in Afghanistan.
But CNN reported neither the video's authenticity nor its accuracy could be confirmed.
The 24-minute video streaming on Islamic Web sites shows al-Qaida fighters conducting reconnaissance before the attack on what they say is the Arghandab checkpoint in the Zabul province in southern Afghanistan, CNN reported.
It also features an introduction by al-Qaida second in command Ayman al-Zawahiri, who CNN said may have been referring to U.S. President George Bush's State of the Union speech.
"Bush raved in his latest speech, and among his ravings was that he has deprived al-Qaida of a safe haven in Afghanistan," al-Zawahiri reportedly says. "The entire world bears witness to his barefaced lie, because al-Qaida and the Taliban ... are the ones who have deprived America of safe haven in Afghanistan."
