U.N. warns Chad of possible genocide

N'DJAMENA, Chad, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Killing tactics in neighboring Darfur, Sudan, have spread to much of eastern Chad, carrying a threat of genocide, a U.N. report says.

The U.N. refugee agency warned Chad could become another Rwanda, the scene of genocide a decade ago, the BBC reported.

Concern was reported growing for some 200,000 refugees who sought shelter in eastern Chad.

More than 200,000 people were reported killed and 2.5 million displaced since civil war broke out in Darfur four years ago.

Meanwhile, Chad, Sudan and the Central African Republic signed an agreement not to support rebels attacking each other's neighbors.
