Amtrak cancels some Northeast service

NEW YORK, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Some Amtrak service has been delayed and some service in the U.S. Northeast is being canceled because of severe winter weather, Amtrak said Wednesday.

Amtrak said it would operate a normal schedule Thursday between Washington, New York and Boston -- including Acela Express service -- but on the Keystone Corridor between Harrisburg, Philadelphia and New York, some trains have been canceled and there will be delays.

Due to heavy snow, the Empire Service west of Albany, N.Y., was canceled. A limited number of trains were expected to operate east of Albany to New York City.

The only service that will operate west of Albany will be the Lake Shore Limited and the Maple Leaf, Amtrak said.

The Adirondack will operate, but only between New York and Albany, and there will be no service to or from Montreal Thursday.

The New York-Rutland, Vt., Ethan Allen Express is canceled. The Washington-St. Albans, Vt., Vermonter will originate and terminate in Springfield, Mass.

Amtrak said passengers could get more information and check on status updates by calling 800-USA-RAIL or visiting Amtrak.com.
