KABUL, Afghanistan, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- NATO and Afghan forces broke up an improvised explosive device, or IED, cell in the central province of Uruzgan, NATO officials said Tuesday.

Ten insurgents were reportedly captured while two Afghan police and a military officer were killed in the raid.

"Evidence was discovered within the compound to indicate that an IED cell was operating within Tarin Kowt to target ANSF and ISAF [NATO] forces," said Dutch Col. J.F. van Griensven, commander, ISAF Task Force Uruzgan.
