British Muslims decry media coverage

BIRMINGHAM, England, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Muslims living in the English city of Birmingham have scheduled a meeting to express their outrage over media coverage of a recent series of police raids.

Sky News said the upcoming meeting likely will focus on how the area media portrayed the arrests of nine terror suspects.

All nine of the terror suspects are British citizens of Pakistani descent and all are being held as suspects in the commission, instigation or preparation of acts of terrorism

Police detectives have continued to question the suspects, whom they have allegedly linked to a plot to kidnap and execute a British Muslim soldier, the report said.

Birmingham authorities have also continued analyzing a "significant quantity" of evidence found during police raids on Wednesday and Friday, but Assistant Chief Constable David Shaw remained cautious.

"I don't want you to read anything into that," he told Sky News of the evidence. "Our priority now is to examine what is actually contained in those exhibits."
