HAVANA, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Cuban state television Tuesday aired a video of Cuban President Fidel Castro and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

The ailing Castro met with Chavez on Monday, according to Cuban media. During the video, the Cuban leader stood up and appeared in better health than in previous videos.

Castro underwent an undisclosed gastro-intestinal surgery in late July prompting the 80-year-old Cuban leader to hand over authority to his brother Raul Castro.

Chavez and Castro are particularly close, as Venezuela provides Cuba with discounted oil.
