Suicide bomber kills three in Israel

JERUSALEM, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Israeli officials said the suicide bomber who killed three people in Eilat Monday intended to detonate his explosives in a more crowded area.

Instead, Internal Security Minister Avi Dichter said the blast occurred in a bakery in Israel's southernmost town, The Jerusalem Post reported.

Dichter's ministry and other Israeli security agencies have concluded that the 21-year-old bomber infiltrated the country from Egypt. Egypt denied that the bomber or the explosives used in the attack could have been smuggled through the Sinai, Israel Radio reported.

Al Aksa Martyrs Brigades, the Islamic Jihad and a new terror group calling itself "Army of Believers" have claimed joint responsibility for the attack.
