NEW YORK, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- The United Nations has approved a resolution condemning denial of the Holocaust and urging member countries to reject claims it was not a historic event.

The resolution was written by the United States and co-sponsored by 103 countries, the Washington Post reported. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said the resolution "reflects the prevailing view of the international community."

The U.N. General Assembly acted about six weeks after Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sponsored a conference that questioned what happened during World War II. The 67 Holocaust deniers who attended included David Duke, the former Ku Klux Klan leader from the United States.
