Texas flights nixed after deicer delayed

AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- A vast majority of morning flights at Bergstrom-International Airport in Austin, Texas, were canceled Wednesday for a lack of deicing solution.

Airport spokesman Jim Halbrook said more than 90 percent the airport's flights were grounded after a shipment of the glycol fluid failed to arrive on schedule Tuesday night, the Austin American-Statesman reported.

Halbrook advised morning passengers to check the status of their flights on the airport's Web site before leaving their homes. He said afternoon flights have not yet been canceled in case the shipment arrives later in the morning.
