IDF postpones Palestinian travel ban

JERUSALEM, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- Israeli Defense Forces Wednesday said the proposed ban on Palestinians traveling in cars with Israeli license plates has been postponed.

Maj. Gen. Yair Naveh decided to postpone the ban two days before it was set to take effect, the Jerusalem Post reported.

The ban was proposed out of security concerns that Palestinian suicide bombers had traveled in the West Bank in vehicles owned by Israeli citizens.

The IDF said it would reveal the new launch date at a later time.

Naveh's decision followed plans to ease roadblock restrictions before 27 of the area roadblocks are dismantled entirely.

The removal of the roadblocks was originally proposed by Israeli Deputy Defense Minister Ephraim Sneh, the newspaper said.
