Canada body-parts murder victim identified

BEIJING, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- The U.S. special envoy to Sudan says China has stepped up its efforts to end the crisis in Darfur and help the millions of victims there.
"I think they're engaging much more aggressively," envoy Andrew S. Natsios told a Beijing news conference at the end of four days of meetings with Chinese officials, the Washington Post reported.
Chinese President Hu Jintao announced at a Chinese-African summit conference in November that he had urged Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir to work with the United Nations and other envoys to end the fighting in Sudan, the Post said.
In the past, the Chinese have seemed reluctant to intervene, the Post said.
Sudan is major supplier of petroleum to China.
