N. Korea says U.S. practicing attack

PYONGYANG, North Korea, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- North Korea accused the United States Saturday of practicing an airstrike against it.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea charged the U.S. military has been simulating the bombing of major targets in the northern part of the peninsula, the official Chinese news agency Xinhua reported.

The DPRK called it part of alleged ambition to ignite a nuclear war in North Korea, Xinhua said.

The report said the United States carried out the air exercise over South Korea on Friday, using B-52 strategic bombers launched from Guam.

The DPRK frequently accuses the United States of adopting hostile polices and staging military exercises against it, reports say.
