The Jerusalem Post said that when Gheit arrives to speak with Olmert Wednesday, the topic of their discussion would likely be the proposed release of Palestinian security prisoners prior to the upcoming Id al-Adha Muslim holiday.

Egyptian officials such as Gheit have been strongly involved in the proposed exchange of the prisoners, including Israeli Cpl. Gilad Shalit, as a means to move diplomatic relations with Palestine forward.

On the other end of the talks, Olmert will likely touch upon the recent Israeli movement to push Egypt towards more stringent anti-smuggling efforts, the report said.

The Post said defense sources have claimed that during the talks, Gheit will likely also ask Israel to increase its border presence along the Philadelphi Corridor.
