Indonesian flooding claims more than 100

JAKARTA, Dec. 25 (UPI) -- More than 100 people in North Sumatra and Aceh provinces have died in the last three days in the latest round of flooding in Indonesian.

In addition to 123 lives lost so far in the flash floods, that came after a five-month drought, approximately 110,000 were forced to leave their homes as the floodwaters approached, the Chinese news agency Xinhua reported.

Just as in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the Aceh province was worst hit by the flood as landslides complicated things by collapsing area homes and bridges.

As of Sunday, some 58,532 families have been forced to endure constant rain in makeshift tent cities, with the threat of disease and no medical supplies.
