NASSAU BAY, Texas, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- After being released from a Texas hospital Sunday, U.S. Rep.-elect Nick Lampson said he is "feeling great" following his recent angioplasty surgery.
The Houston Chronicle said the Texas Democrat, who had the heart surgery on Friday, checked out of St. John's Hospital in Nassau Bay Sunday and claimed to be feeling fine.
"I am feeling great and looking forward to a restful Christmas with my family," a statement from the congressman said.
"I could not have received better care and am deeply grateful to the staff at St. John's for their excellent work," he added.
Lampson previously had a angiography for his heart, but prior to feeling ill at a friend's party on Thursday had never experienced any other heart problems.
The Houston Chronicle said if Lampson follows his recommended low-cholesterol diet, he is expected to fully recover from the surgery.
