Poll: Almost half in U.S. creationist
JERUSALEM, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- The Palestinian Islamic faction of Hamas criticized concessions made by Israel during peace talks with the head of the Palestinian Authority.
The New York Times reported that in addition to labeling Israel's concessions Saturday to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas as inconsequential, Hamas has also criticized Abbas for his involvement in the talks.
The radical Islamic faction claimed it was unjust of Abbas to be involved in negotiations with Israeli leaders at a time he has ceased talks of a Palestinian unity government with Ismail Haniya, the Palestinian prime minister.
Yet Saturday's meeting between Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert proved fruitful as Israel will transfer $100 million in collected tax revenue to the Palestinians.
The Times said that while no prisoner releases were negotiated during Saturday's talks, Olmert did agree to remove certain checkpoints from the West Bank and promised to help facilitate travel between Israel and the Gaza Strip.
