JOLIET, Ill., Dec. 21 (UPI) -- A Catholic priest in Joliet, Ill., was indicted Thursday for the alleged fondling of two teenaged brothers, the Chicago Tribune reported.
The Rev. Louis Rogge, 76, has been charged with four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a spokesman for Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow told the newspaper. Rogge has already served probation after pleading guilty to a child molestation charge in Athens, Ga. in 1974. He was expected to surrender Thursday morning to authorities.
The two alleged victims brought the allegations to the state's attorney's office within the past year, the newspaper reported. Officials would not say where the incidents, which allegedly took place in 1996, occurred.
"We believe this is the first case of sex abuse involving a Catholic priest to be charged in Will County since the Catholic sex abuse national scandal in 2002," the spokesman told the newspaper.
