Astronauts rewire space station

HOUSTON, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Two astronauts rewired the International Space Station Saturday in the current mission's third space walk.

Mission management at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration approved a fourth space walk Monday to try to retract the P6 port solar array. That decision pushes undocking of the Space Shuttle Discovery back to Tuesday and delays the mission's return to Earth until Friday.

Robert Curbeam and Sunita Williams began their walk by completing putting the station's power system into its permanent setup. Other tasks included installing a robotic arm grapple system and moving debris shield panels to a storage point on the outside of the space station.

The panels are to be installed by the station crew during a later walk.
