JACKSONVILLE, N.C., Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Two young Florida men were arrested Saturday in North Carolina on charges of killing a man during a carjacking at a Hialeah, Fla., gas station.
Kristopher Hoyos of Miramar and Mario Perez of Pembroke Pines, both 19, were being held in the Onslow County Jail in Jacksonville, N.C., to await an extradition hearing, the Miami Herald reported.
The victim, Abilio Pere -- who was not related to the accused killer -- was shot dead Wednesday, and his 2006 Chrysler 300 taken. The car, completely burned, was later found in Pembroke Pines.
Investigators learned that Hoyos and Mario Perez had left the state. Officers from Hialeah worked with Jacksonville police on the arrest.
