CRANBROOK, British Columbia, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- A Canadian polygamist tells Larry King that none of his wives is under 16 now.
In an interview on CNN, Winston Blackmore, leader of a group in Bountiful, British Columbia, said some wives were not quite legal when he married them, the Vancouver Sun reported.
"There's one that was, and one that lied about their age, but that's not unusual for women, is it?" Blackmore said.
The Sun said Blackmore has wed about 20 wives and has around 100 children, though he has refused to say exactly how many.
Prosecutors are studying a Royal Canadian Mounted Police report on the Bountiful group to determine if any crimes have been committed there.
Blackmore said he is not a member of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints, the polygamist group headed by Warren Jeffs. Most of Jeffs' followers live in two towns on the Utah-Arizona border.
Jeffs is awaiting trial in the United States on charges that he arranged marriages between underage girls and older men.
