Norway wants flag off German clothes

OSLO, Norway, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Norweigian officials want to stop a German company from using the Norweigan flag on clothing sold to neo-Nazis.

The newspaper Aftenposten said the clothing line "Thor Steinar" features the Norwegian flag, runic lettering and Norwegian names. The clothing is allegedly popular with neo-Nazis because the symbols are viewed as "Aryan and Germanic," the newspaper VG said.

Norway's ambassador to Germany, Bjorn Tore Godal, said he discussed the issue with Norweigian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg in Berlin over the weekend.

Godal said he has asked German authorities for help in blocking production of the clothing, Aftenposten said.
