Virus sickens hundreds on cruise ship

MIAMI, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- An intestinal virus sickened nearly 400 passengers and crew aboard Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas, which has returned to Florida.

Several dozen passengers and crew were suffering the effects of the virus when the ship docked at the Port of Miami after a 7-day Caribbean cruise, The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.

The cruise line says a passenger became ill before boarding the ship Nov. 26.

Last month the same type of virus sickened 700 people on Carnival Cruise Line's Liberty.
