ABUJA, Nigeria, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo is preparing for his retirement from politics next year by enrolling as a student at the Open University.

"No matter how high one rises, one can never be too big, too high or too old to learn," Obasanjo told the BBC.

At 69, Obasanjo is believed to be the country's oldest undergraduate. He said he hopes to set an example for other senior citizens.

He also promises to be a serious student when he leaves office.
