CARACAS, Venezuela, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez warns that a plot against him is in the making and his opponents are conspiring to "ruin Christmas," Globovision reported.

The outspoken Chavez Thursday said that opposition groups in Venezuela were conspiring to wage nationwide protests and block highways following the Dec. 3 presidential election.

The left-wing leader is expected to handily defeat his opponent, Gov. Manuel Rosales, who has trailed Chavez by double digits leading up to Sunday's vote.
