Woman charged with leaving baby in garage

LORAIN, Ohio, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- An Ohio woman was charged Tuesday with leaving her baby son in a laundry basket shut in her garage for up to three days.

Heather Heck of Lorain faces charges that include child endangerment and obstruction of a police investigation, NewsNet5 reported.

Robert Arroyo, who shares a two-family duplex and the garage with Heck and her boyfriend, found the baby Sunday afternoon. He heard crying and tracked the noise to a Chevrolet Blazer, where he found the infant covered only with a sheet.

Doctors who examined the boy at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, said that his sores showed he had been lying in the basket for up to three days.

Heck at first denied any knowledge of the baby, saying she and her boyfriend had been away. But investigators say she has now admitted that he is her son.
