
CHICAGO, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Personal data on some 1,740 former Chicago school teachers was mistakenly mailed along with health insurance information by a printing company.
All Printing & Graphics Inc. was awarded the contract to distribute the insurance information from an e-mail from Chicago Public Schools, which also contained a spreadsheet containing names, addresses and Social Security numbers, the Chicago Tribune reported Monday.
Some former employees who got the bulky packets in the mail during the weekend told the newspaper they were upset such a mailing could end up leading to identity theft if stolen or delivered to the wrong address.
School board spokesman Michael Vaughn said the printer sent the spreadsheet that was used to generate the mailing labels, thinking it was a list of health-care providers, and said a new letter was being mailed Monday to apologize. He said for those who hadn't already shredded the packet, a postage-paid envelope would be provided along with information about credit-card and identity-theft protection,
