BELFAST, Northern Ireland, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- A British loyalist was charged in Belfast Saturday with attempting to kill Sinn Fein leaders Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness.
Michael Stone, 51, faces five counts of attempted murder for storming Stormont during an assembly meeting Friday.
He was also charged with possession of items that could be used for terrorist purposes such as explosives, the .
The Belfast Magistrates Court remanded Stone into custody until Dec. 22.
Stone also was accused of trying to kill three other people, including two security guards.
Stone previously was convicted of killing six people, three at a funeral and three others between 1984-1987, as well as five attempted murders, CNN.com said.
He was sentenced to 30 years for the six murders, but was paroled in 2000 after serving 12 years.
