CHARLESTON, W.Va., Nov. 22 (UPI) -- A 13th lawsuit has been filed in connection with the Sago Mine disaster in West Virginia that killed a dozen miners.

The latest action was filed Monday by Samantha Lewis, the wife of coal miner David Lewis, as well as by Lewis' ex-wife, the West Virginia Record reported.

The suits name a number of companies that operated or were connected to the maintenance of the mine, where an explosion Jan. 2 killed one miner outright and left a dozen trapped. All but one of the trapped men died due to a lack of oxygen.

The lawsuits allege the Sago Mine had a high accident rate and had multiple state and federal safety violations on its record.
