BOGOR, Indonesia, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Indonesian police and barricades foiled a demonstration Monday by some 8,000 people protesting a visit by U.S. President George Bush.

Bush arrived from Vietnam in driving rain late Monday afternoon and was immediately shuttled by helicopter from Jakarta 40 miles away to the resort town of Bogor to meet with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

In Bogor, the Prosperous Justice Party some 8,000 members marched against U.S. policy and alleging the Bush administration has an anti-Muslim policy, the Antara news agency reported. However, more than 15,000 police had barricaded a monument in a square they had planned to occupy, Antara said.

Demonstrations have been taking place every day this month in Indonesia and marches were reported Monday in Jakarta and seven other cities, the report said.
