HANOI, Vietnam, Nov. 19 (UPI) -- Asia-Pacific leaders pledged "to revive moribund world trade talks" and combat terrorism as their economic cooperation meeting in Vietnam closed Sunday.

Vietnam President Nguyen Minh Triet, current chairman of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, stressed the need to implement United Nations sanctions imposed on North Korea after its Oct. 9 nuclear test and expressed support for six-party talks on North Korea's nuclear programs.

Reading from a statement, Triet also said the forum members "dedicated ourselves to preventing threats to sustainable development, to building a secure and favorable business environment and to enhancing human security," the official Nhan Dan newspaper reported.

The 21 leaders issued a "Hanoi Declaration" outlining steps to free up trade in the region. The declaration also pledged "combat terrorism in every form and manifestation."
