BRASILIA, Brazil, Nov. 13 (UPI) -- A key campaign coordinator for Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva resigned amid an ongoing corruption scandal, presidential officials said Monday.

Luiz Gushiken, one of the main architects for da Silva's successful 2002 presidential run after three straight losses, stepped down over the weekend, O Globo reported.

Gushiken allegedly was implicated in a scandal in which the ruling Workers' Party, or PT, has been accused of bribing lawmakers to vote for key reform legislation.

Several PT advisers and cabinet ministers have resigned in the last year and a half.
