Reports: Ill. Gov. Blagojevich re-elected

SPRINGFIELD, Ill., Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Incumbent Democratic Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, has defeated Republican challenger Judy Baar Topinka, CBS News and others project.

Blagojevich won despite being linked to a series of scandals.

U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald is looking into allegations of hiring fraud in the state administration, and irregularities in state contracting.

A fundraiser for the governor, Antoin Rezko, has been indicted in an alleged kickback scheme.
