TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Republican state Attorney General Charlie Crist won the race for Florida governor over U.S. Rep. Jim Davis Tuesday, CNN projects.
The win comes despite Crist's apparent snub of President George W. Bush. Bush came to the Florida panhandle to promote Crist's candidacy, but the candidate didn't show, saying he had commitments elsewhere.
The snub angered some White House officials, the Washington Post reported.
Crist will succeed the president's brother, Gov. Jeb Bush, and keep Florida's governorship in the Republican camp.
Crist reportedly outspent Davis three-to-one.
