MIAMI, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- The funeral for the 200th homicide victim of the year in Miami-Dade County was held Saturday in Florida.

Eviton Brown, 24, was found shot dead last week in front of a Miami car dealership in a case that has thus far produced no arrests but plenty of tears.

The Miami Herald said Brown was last seen with a cousin who was involved in a business dispute, and may not have been the intended target of the shooting.

Brown was the third young man associated with a successful inner-city mentoring program to be killed this year as the area's murder rate has surged 29 percent over last year.

The pair killed in May included a college-bound youth and a high school shop teacher who volunteered as a mentor for the 5,000 Role Models of Excellence program.
