Airliner loses engine, lands OK

PEORIA, Ill., Oct. 26 (UPI) -- A Sun Country Airlines flight was forced to land at Peoria, Ill., after the plane lost its right engine, officials said.

The plane, Flight 382, en route from Fort Myers, Fla., to Minneapolis, Minn., with about 110 passengers, touched down without incident, the Peoria Journal Star said.

Another plane was sent to take the passengers to their intended destinations.

John Backer, assistant director of operations and maintenance at the airport, said such malfunction was rare but manageable. He said the twin-engine jet could still maneuver with only one functional engine.
