KABUL, Afghanistan, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- The leader of the militant Taliban movement in Afghanistan warned that violence will increase and the government will be toppled.

A posting on an Islamist Web site purportedly from Mullah Mohammad Omar denounced the presence of United Nations and NATO troops in Afghanistan, and said Afghan President Hamid Karzai and his government would eventually brought in front of an Islamic court whose "justice is known very well to all," the BBC reported.

The authenticity of the site's message could not be confirmed, as Omar's whereabouts have been unknown since a U.S.-led coalition toppled the fundamentalist Taliban regime in 2001.

The message called for "all Muslims belonging to every school of Islamic jurisdiction" to unite in the fight, which the message said would escalate.

"In the coming months the war will become many times more forceful and organized," the message said. "I believe that the war will become forceful at a surprising level."

The posting was made on the Muslim Eid el-Fitr feast, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
