BEIJING, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao said his government treats fighting corruption as "a priority and a pressing task."
Hu's remarks came during his address in Beijing during the opening ceremony of the Conference and General Meeting of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities, the official Xinhua news agency said Sunday.

Hu said officials treat anti-corruption efforts "as a priority and a pressing task that has great influence" on equality, justice and stability in the country, Xinhua said.
The conference ends Oct. 26.
